Escorted pet travel

Pet Nanny Service: A Daisy Escort Flies With Your Pet

When you can’t be on the same flight, a member of our team travels as the passenger instead — your pet flies in the cabin or as checked baggage on the same aircraft, and is handed to you after arrival clearance.

Pet Nanny vs Flying With You vs Cargo

In-cabin and checked-baggage travel both need a passenger on the same flight. A pet nanny fills that seat when you can’t — the airline rules stay exactly the same.

When a Pet Nanny Makes Sense — and When It Doesn’t

An escort adds a passenger ticket to the trip, so we only recommend it when that cost is shared or the route leaves no better option.

Usually a good fitWe’ll recommend an escort

  • Two or more pets on one tripOne escort ticket is shared, which brings the cost back in line with a standard relocation.
  • A destination our team can travel to easilyTypically Southeast Asia — Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • Within the airline’s cabin or checked limitThe escort uses the same allowance a passenger-owner would — see the airline table below.
  • You have already left, or never lived hereFor example, a pet bought or adopted in Vietnam for a family abroad.

Usually better another wayWe’ll suggest the alternative

  • A single pet on a long-haul routeManifest cargo usually costs less — as in our Golden Retriever cargo case.
  • Routes that take pets as cargo onlyFlights into the UK, for example, take pets as cargo only, and only on approved airlines — Vietnam Airlines is not one of them.
  • Two pets into China with one personChina allows one dog or cat per traveller per entry, so two pets need two travellers.
  • Dogs to the US on Vietnam AirlinesNot accepted in the cabin or as checked baggage — another carrier or cargo is needed.
The legal side

Can Someone Else Legally Fly With Your Pet?

Yes, on most routes — but each destination sets its own conditions for a pet travelling with someone other than its owner.

European UnionAuthorised person

  • The owner names the escort in writing, on the EU model authorisation.
  • The pet must travel within 5 days of the owner’s own journey.
  • The escort may be a member of the carrier’s staff; the owner’s name stays on the health certificate.

United StatesDogs from Vietnam

  • The passenger accompanying the dog can differ from the owner.
  • A CDC-registered Animal Care Facility booking is required; the escort’s passport is needed for release by CBP.
  • Cats are not covered by the dog rules.

ChinaOne pet per traveller

  • Each traveller may bring one dog or cat per entry.
  • Two pets need two travellers, each with their own document set.

Into VietnamPets arriving with a person

  • 1–2 pets travelling with a passenger are declared at the airport as non-commercial.
  • 3 or more in one shipment are treated as commercial.
2

Per-person limitsTürkiye · UAE · India

  • Türkiye: up to 2 pets per person.
  • UAE: 2 pets per person per year.
  • India: up to 2 pets as accompanied baggage.

United KingdomCargo routes

  • A pet may arrive within 5 days of its owner, with written authorisation.
  • Pets enter the UK as cargo only — so an escort on board doesn’t change how the pet flies.

We check these conditions for your exact route before anything is booked.

How it works

How a Pet Nanny Trip Works, Step by Step

1
Quote

Route and fit check

You tell us the pets, weights, destination and dates. We check the airline, per-person limits and whether our escort can travel there easily.

2
Weeks before

Documents in your name

Vaccines, permits and the export certificate stay in the owner’s name; we add the written authorisation where the destination asks for one.

3
Booking

Escort ticket and pet place

We book the escort’s seat and reserve your pet in the cabin or as checked baggage, with a carrier or crate sized to that airline.

4
Departure day

Pickup and check-in

The escort collects your pet, presents the documents at the passenger counter, pays any excess-baggage fee and clears export.

5
Arrival

Clearance on your behalf

On landing, the escort takes your pet through the import or quarantine office — the same steps an owner would do.

6
Handover

Your pet, in person

Once released, your pet is handed to you or the person you name — by the same escort who collected them.

What a Pet Nanny Trip Costs Is Made Of

Every quote is itemised. The escort’s ticket is the only line that a self-accompanied trip doesn’t have.

Escort’s ticket

A passenger fare for our team member on your pet’s flight.

Airline pet fee

The in-cabin or excess-baggage charge, paid at the counter.

Documents & vet

Vaccines, tests, permits and the export health certificate.

Airport handling

Pickup, check-in and clearance at both ends.

Destination fees

Inspection, quarantine or facility fees set by the country.

Two or more pets: one escort ticket is shared, which usually brings the total in line with a standard relocation.

One pet: manifest cargo is usually the cheaper option — we’ll say so in the quote. See the 2026 cost guide by destination.

What Our Escort Does — and What No Escort Can Do

Our escort

  • Stays the one responsible personThe same team member from pickup in Vietnam to handover at the destination.
  • Carries and presents every documentAt check-in, export, and the arrival quarantine or customs desk.
  • Handles the counter for youWeighing, crate checks and any excess-baggage payment.
  • Hands your pet over in personTo you, or to someone you name in advance.

No escort can

  • Sit with a pet in the holdChecked-baggage pets fly in the pressurised, temperature-controlled hold, away from passengers.
  • Overrule the airline at check-inAcceptance is decided at the counter on documents, weight and conditions on the day.
  • Sedate your pet for the flightWe don’t — sedation raises the risk in the air.
  • Open the carrier in the cabinIn-cabin pets stay in their carrier under the seat for the whole flight.
FAQ

Pet Nanny Questions

Is it legal for someone other than the owner to fly with my pet?+
On most routes, yes. The EU allows an authorised person — including a member of the transport company’s staff — if the owner authorises them in writing and the pet travels within 5 days of the owner. The US accepts an accompanying passenger who is not the owner. China limits each traveller to one dog or cat. Read more on whether a pet can travel without its owner.
How many pets can one pet nanny take?+
It is set by the airline and the destination, not by us. Vietnam Airlines allows at most 2 pets per economy cabin; Türkiye, the UAE and India allow 2 pets per person; China allows one. We plan the number of escorts around the strictest of those limits.
Can my pet travel in the cabin with a pet nanny on any airline?+
No. In-cabin travel depends on the airline and the route — Malaysia Airlines, for example, takes no pets in the cabin. Where it is allowed, the usual limit is 6–8 kg for pet and carrier together, and the carrier must fit under the seat. Larger pets fly as checked baggage on the same aircraft.
Is a pet nanny cheaper than shipping my pet as cargo?+
For two or more pets it is often comparable, because one escort ticket is shared. For a single pet, manifest cargo is usually cheaper. Your quote will show both options when both are possible.
Will my pet be sedated for the flight?+
No. We don’t sedate pets for travel. Instead we help you get your pet used to its carrier or crate before the flight — see our IATA pet crate guide.
What happens if the airline refuses my pet at check-in?+
The airline has the final say at the counter. That is why weights, crate size, breed and documents are confirmed before booking. If a refusal still happens, the escort stays with your pet, does not board without them, and we rebook on the next workable option.
