Sphynx Cats Shipping To Taiwan Daisy Pet

The pet relocation cost to Taiwan from Vietnam is paid in three places: in Vietnam for the vet work and documents, to the airline for the flight, and in Taiwan on arrival. In recent Daisy quotes, a cat flying with its owner cost about USD 1,550 before the airline’s pet fee. A large dog cost about USD 2,650, with the airline fee included.

Short Answer: How Much Does It Cost to Move a Pet from Vietnam to Taiwan?

  • Cat flying with its owner: about USD 1,550, plus the airline’s pet fee.
  • Large dog flying with its owner: about USD 2,650, airline fee included.
  • Taiwan’s import permit: free to apply for.
  • Taiwan fees on arrival: NT$100 without quarantine. About NT$8,200 more if the pet must stay seven days in quarantine.
  • Biggest saving: qualifying for the quarantine waiver, which depends on taking the blood test early.

Final prices depend on the pet’s weight, the crate and the airline. The full route is described in our pet shipping to Taiwan overview.

What Does Daisy’s Quote Include?

The quotes above cover the work in Vietnam and the paperwork for both countries.

  • Vet work: microchip, health checks and parasite treatment.
  • Rabies blood test: taking the sample and sending it to a laboratory abroad. No laboratory in Vietnam is on Taiwan’s list.
  • Taiwan import permit: preparing and filing the application with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency (APHIA).
  • Vietnam export certificate: Form 13a and Taiwan’s Form 002, issued by the regional animal health office at the airport.
  • Daisy’s service: planning the dates, checking every document and supporting check-in.

The rabies blood test is one of the largest items in the Vietnam part of the cost.

Not included: Taiwan’s quarantine fees if quarantine applies, import duty above the duty-free allowance, and a custom crate for large breeds.

What Does the Airline Charge for a Pet to Taiwan?

You pay the airline when you book. Vietnam Airlines publishes its pet fees for flights to Taiwan, excluding VAT:

  • In the cabin: USD 400 per flight, for a pet under 6 kg with its carrier.
  • Checked baggage: USD 200 up to 9 kg, USD 250 from 9 to 16 kg, USD 300 from 16 to 32 kg.

These figures are on Vietnam Airlines’ travelling with pets page. EVA Air and China Airlines carry pets as checked baggage only and charge by their excess baggage rates.

Our page on Vietnam Airlines pet fees explains the weight bands.

A pet that flies without its owner travels as cargo. Cargo is priced by the crate’s chargeable weight and is usually the most expensive way to fly. The three ways are compared in our page on cabin, checked baggage and cargo.

What Do You Pay on Arrival in Taiwan?

APHIA charges no fee for the import permit, as its import FAQ for dogs and cats states. At the airport, the importer pays a NT$100 processing fee in cash at the animal quarantine counter. All APHIA fees are paid in New Taiwan dollars, in cash.

A pet travelling with its owner is declared at customs through the red channel. Each traveller has a duty-free allowance of NT$35,000, and duty applies to the value above it (Taipei Customs rules for pets). A pet flying as cargo also pays the cargo terminal’s warehouse fees.

How Much Does Quarantine Cost if the Waiver Is Missed?

A pet that does not meet the waiver conditions stays seven days at APHIA’s Guanyin station in Taoyuan. On a 2026 import permit we handled, the fees were:

  • Transport from Taoyuan airport to Guanyin: NT$1,480 on weekdays, NT$1,980 on holidays.
  • Seven-day stay: NT$6,625, plus any vet care needed.
  • Handling outside working hours: up to NT$3,000 each time the pet enters or leaves.

Fees in Taiwan depend on how the pet clears the airport: straight home, or to quarantine.

Here is the difference on a weekday arrival at Taoyuan. With the waiver, Taiwan’s fees are NT$100. Without it, they are NT$100 + NT$1,480 + NT$6,625 = NT$8,205, before any vet care. How the stay works is explained in our guide to Taiwan pet quarantine.

What Mistakes Make the Trip More Expensive?

  • Blood test taken too late: under 90 days before arrival, the pet stays in quarantine until 97 days after the blood sampling date.
  • Wrong details on the certificate: a wrong species, sex or age means 30 days of quarantine.
  • Unapproved date change: entering on a date or port not approved on the permit can be fined NT$30,000 to NT$150,000.
  • Undeclared pet food: food with meat or poultry that is not declared can be fined up to NT$1,000,000.

Each of these rules, with its article number, is in our guide to Taiwan pet import regulations.

How Can You Lower the Cost?

  • Start early. A blood test taken at least 180 days before arrival qualifies for the waiver and saves about NT$8,200 in Taiwan.
  • Fly with the pet. The cabin or checked baggage costs much less than cargo for a small or medium pet.
  • Land on a weekday morning. This avoids holiday transport rates and handling outside working hours if quarantine applies.
  • Check every document before filing. A matching microchip number and correct dates avoid long quarantine.

The day-by-day plan that makes the waiver possible is in our pet shipping timeline from Vietnam to Taiwan.
