In this guide, we’ll walk you through the key considerations for pet shipping to the U.S. and how Daisy Pet Transport can support you throughout the entire process.
If you’re planning to move to the U.S with your beloved pet, here are the key requirements you need to consider:
The U.S requires all pets to be microchipped. The microchip must comply with ISO 11784/11785 standards. Ensure the microchip is registered with up-to-date owner information for a smooth entry process.
An Import Permit from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is mandatory for dog entering The U.S. This document confirms compliance with the countries biosecurity laws
Pets must be vaccinated against Rabies and undergo a rabies titer test at an CDC approved labs. Additional, a health certificate issued by a goverment related facility and veterinarian is required, confirming your pet is healthy and free from infectious diseases
A veterinarian must draw the blood sample at least 30 days after the dog’s first valid rabies vaccination and at least 28 days before entry to the United States. Cats are not required to have proof of rabies vaccination. However, CDC recommends that all cats be vaccinated against rabies
All foreign-vaccinated dogs that have been in a high-risk country must have a reservation at a CDC-registered animal care facility for examination and revaccination. If the dog does not have a valid rabies serology titer, the reservation must also include a 28-day quarantine.
Your pet must travel in an IATA-compliant crate, offering adequate space to stand, turn and lie down. Proper ventilation and secure closures are essential for safety and comfort
